Compassion in Action

Many times when visitors travel to a foreign country they are on a mission to learn as much as they can about that particular culture. They support the local economies and exchange ideas and experiences and this interaction is quite positive — we learn from each other and see how, in this day and age, we are truly interconnected as a global community. Many believe travel is one of the greatest educational opportunities offered. An African proverb states, “He who never visits thinks his mother is the only cook.” But many times when we do visit a different culture we take away much more than we give back.

During our Wisdom Study Abroad programs, we actually give something back to the countries we study in by offering our services at schools, orphanages and refugee settlements. For many of our students, this is the highlight of their study abroad experience — Compassion in Action.
